New Traditions

Right before we had kids Ryan and I made the commitment to ourselves that we would do everything possible for our kids to wake up in their own home Christmas morning. We both had that luxury as kids and want that for our little family! So far we have remained true to our commitment, 5 years and counting.

Having no commitments allows us the opportunity to start our own traditions and that we have done. This year on Christmas Eve we started a new tradition of having a homemade dinner of spaghetti and meatballs. It is not very often that you get to enjoy this type of meal and it is yummy! For several years now, we have enjoyed "Gramp's breakfast" in honor of my mom's father on Christmas morning. My mom and Bob have made the trip up to enjoy the food and better yet, enjoy spending time with the kiddos. To top off the relaxing day, have are now 2 years running for the annual trip to Blockbuster and to the local Chinese restaurant right next door. Simple yet fun and different! It is probably something that only us would enjoy but that is what makes it our tradition!

Here are some pictures of the best part of Christmas...setting out cookies and milk (chocolate of course) for Santa and carrots for the reindeer. Kate had to do all the work this year since Jake was fast asleep. I am sure next year Jake will be right in the mix of things!
