It is hard to believe that February has come and gone. Despite being busy with the house, we were able to celebrate Ryan's 35th birthday on the 14th! My mom was gracious enough to offer to watch Kate the night of the 13th. We enjoyed a great lunch with Ryan's family and then ventured out for an afternoon/evening of fun. After dropping Kate off with Bob, we headed to a local bar to watch some college basketball...one thing we both decided we miss most since having kid(s)...time alone to watch sports. We then headed to our friends Mike and Breann's new house for a house warming/wine swap/Valentine's party. We watched the 1st half of the UK/Tenn game and then headed back to Louisville for a comfortable night sleep in our own bed! Thank you to Jo, Michael, Chad, Melissa, and Ava for venturing to Lexington to help celebrate Ryan's birthday. Thank you also to my mom and Bob for offering to watch Kate for the night! Free nights are always so much appreciated!
So as February comes to a close, a big Happy Birthday goes out to Ryan! I love you! According to Kate, Daddy's birthday is the last major milestone before Jake's arrival. I guess that means he is coming soon.
Speaking of coming soon, my dearest friend Sarah Bates King is getting ready to have her second little girl on Tuesday! We wish you the best Sarah and can't wait to meet little Molly soon! We all will be thinking of you Tuesday morning.

Home sweet home
We are getting ready to embark on another several days without a functioning kitchen. UGH. How Stephan did this for 3 months while they gutted their kitchen/dining room (at the same pregnancy stages)...I have no idea. With full blown nesting setting in, I am dying to get everything even more organized than it already is. Oh well...a true test of patience.
Since December, we have been working on trying to get the wallpaper removed in the kitchen and the walls/ceiling in the kitchen, dining room and formal living room painted. Ryan accomplished the wallpaper removal, 3 days of sanding/cleaning, and 2 coats of paint in the kitchen. However, after the painting we realized that the damage to the walls was still visible. Therefore, we are having a painter come in starting Monday to skim the walls with dry wall mud and then prime/paint them again. We are hoping that by next weekend all the work will be completed! I can't wait to see how all the colors work. We have purchased several pieces of furniture that were finally delivered on Saturday. Too bad they are sitting in the middle of the living room getting ready to be covered in plastic. Have I said that I am nesting? Needless to say, I can't wait to get everything put in its place. At least I know now that it will all be done before Jake arrives.
The nursery should be finished next weekend too. We are waiting to get all the kitchen things out of his room before we finish decorating it. We still need to hang pictures and things like that...but at least it is functional. I have washed all the clothes that my dearest friends have generously let us borrow. Everything is labeled, organized, hung up, etc. I think I have everything else ready too, including my bag packed. It looks like all I need now is some consistency with these contractions :)
Hope all is well in everyone's world! I will keep you all posted on Jake! I had to move my visit to Friday this week because I am out of town every day. At least I get to drive my new car (2011 Toyota Camry hybrid), which I LOVE so far. I just picked it up late Friday afternoon but so far, so good.
I promise to post some of the before and after pictures this weekend, even though I am sure the pictures won't do it justice. I guess you will just have to come and see it in person!

UK Gymnastics meet
On Friday night, Kate and I headed to Lexington for a quick visit and a fun night of UK gymnastics. It was my first gymnastics meet of the season, mostly because they are on Friday night and I am usually too tired by 7:00 on Friday and/or my Friday's are too hectic to get out of town by 5:30. We made this past Friday and had a great time with Uncle Pal, Aunt Granny, Sawyer, Cam, Judd, Jen, Sarah and Sam! The kids ran up and down the arena steps from start to finish, while we all visited. I may have seen a routine or two.I believe NCAA Regionals are scheduled to be held in Lexington a few weeks after Jake is born. If all goes as planned, that may be one of my first free nights?!?!

We are alive...just busy!
I promise to catch up this weekend. Everyone is doing great...including Baby Jake! I was struck down by the 24 hour stomach bug that is going around, which made for a great night at 36+ weeks. As if just lying in bed isn't difficult enough at this stage. I am feeling MUCH better today.
36+ week check up today and Jake and I are both doing great. His head is down (perfect) and I am 1 cm dilated and 50% effaced. This doesn't mean that I am near going...my body is just showing signs that it is ready! YEA! We can't wait to meet our new little buddy. My weight gain has been great this time, partly because my swelling has been far less. I am just now starting to swell at the end of the day after wearing heels all day.
Funny story from tonight...as I was reading and singing to Kate tonight, she wanted to wake up Jake by poking on my stomach. After a few minutes of poking, he started kicking right on cue. She thought it was hysterical. She would poke him and he would immediately kick. Too cute!
Things have been extremely hectic around the house with all the work on finishing the kitchen/dining room/living room. I will post more details this weekend but we - I mean Ryan - has been busy stripping wallpaper, sanding down the walls, and painting. We ran into a little complication with the walls in the kitchen so a contractor is coming in this weekend to skim the walls with dry wall mud. The damage is nothing major, just cosmetic and we think it would be best for a professional to come in so it looks perfect (for an old house). Everything should be done by late next week. I cannot wait to get my kitchen back in order and gain access again to all my appliances. I also can't wait for all the new furniture (except the sectional) to be delivered Saturday. My only goal is for it to all be done by the delivery. Then I can enjoy my 6 weeks at home with a few new pieces of furniture. There is not that much so don't get your hopes up but anything new is fun to play with!
Again, I promise to get caught up this weekend. I have been on Kate duty 24/7 due to Ryan being consumed with the painting/sanding/etc. She has been a huge help with getting the nursery ready. Hopefully I will be able to post pics this weekend. Just a few more things needed for it to be a little more homey for the little guy :)
