Girls Weekend and Annual Ski Trip

Somehow Sunday night turned into the following Saturday afternoon. Where does time go? I had hoped to get these pictures downloaded last weekend when we got home and then Kate ended up having a double ear infection. It was her 3rd one in a row, which is interesting because she has only ever had 1 ear infection before these??? She was on several antibiotics for the 1st two so they decided to give her a stronger antibiotic this time, which required 1 shot in each leg for 3 consecutive days (Mon, Tues & Weds). Needless to say, it was not fun. She is now fully recovered and back to her old self.

Last night I had the opportunity to see several of my UK Gymnastics friends and we had a blast catching up! Colleen, Kristi, Misty, and Mary Beth (my trainer when I ruptured my achilles) all drove down from Louisville to Lexington for the last UK Gymnastics meet of the season! It was so wonderful to see everyone and catch up on all that has occured since our last reunion in 2007. Colleen now lives in Indianapolis and everyone else lives in Louisville so we plan on getting together more often! YEA!! I only wish I would have remembered my camera.

We had a great morning too as Grant came down to play early this morning while his Daddy went to class. Ryan, Kate, Grant and myself all ventured out to Dooley's for some eggs and a bagel. The kiddos were great but all Ryan and I could think of is what if we would have had twins? Crazy. The attached picture is of them brushing their teeth...cute! They play perfectly together so it is such a joy when we get to watch him!

I hope you enjoy the pictures! The girls weekend turned into a Snuggie Party when April and Jennifer surprised us all with new snuggies. All I can say is don't make fun of the Snuggie until you tri it. It is sooo comfortable.

In the pictures from the snowmobile/ski trip, there is a girl in there that we met at the local bar and she was CRAZY...this explains the funny faces on Adrienne and John.

Enjoy! We are off to dinner with April and Jon for April's birthday!

Annual snowmobiling & skiing trip

It is hard to believe that it has been 3 weeks since the ice storm. We recovered well and things are back to normal. We still have quite a bit of debris in our yard but hope to get that cleaned up soon. Since the last post, we have celebrated Ryan's 34th birthday, a great Valentine's/thank you dinner on the 6th, and a girls-weekend in Louisville. Ryan and I celebrated his birthday and Valentines a week early with a great dinner at our now favorite restaurant in Louisville...Jack Fry's. We are so glad Ann and Jack could join us as a big thank you for letting us stay at their house for the week of the ice storm. The next weekend, 6 of my best friends gathered at my house on Friday for some great wine, stories, pictures, and a Snuggie to top it all off! We had a blast reliving the past and catching up on all the things that had happened since our last get together in July. It is always so refreshing to step away from all the choas life has to offer and enjoy a few days with my girls! Saturday we all ventured out for a pedicure and then downtown to enjoy a great dinner and danced the night away! Thank you to all my girls for making the trip to Louisville...it was great to see everyone.

This week was our annual trip to Ellsworth, MI with our friends to enjoy a little snowmobiling and skiing! This year 4 couples went: us, The Moyers', The Wiggins', and The Jones'. We had a blast with all the outdoor activities, enjoying the 12+ inches of snow Ellsworth got while we were up there, in addition to the ton of it that was already here. We also enjoyed a few beers, great 'bar' food, and laughs with our dear friends. Kate was in great hands with Jo and we can't wait to see her again tomorrow night. She had her first true meltdown when we left Tuesday night...but has been fine since thanks to all the spoiling Jo gave her :)

I will post pictures from our last few weekends as soon as we get back to Louisville on Sunday night!

Ice storm & trip to Gatlinburg

Whew...what a week. As everyone across the nation knows, we and most of the state got demolished by the ice storm last week. From our understanding it was one for the record books. The news said last week it was the worst natural disaster to hit Louisville in recent history. We lost our power on Tuesday night and are still without it...along with over 120,000 people! Luckily, our dearest friends, Ann, Jack and Grant, have allowed us to overtake their basement for almost a week now. Ryan was busy working days and nights at UPS and I tried to work and take care of Kate.

To top it all off, Kate dislocated her elbow on Thursday. We are not sure how she did it but luckily it was just her elbow again. When we first went to the Immediate Care Center, they said it was her shoulder so we had to make the trip down to Kosair's Children's Hospital to get it put back in. After several hours and many tears, we saw the doctor and thank goodness, they said it was just her elbow.

Since we didn't have power, we decided to head to Gatlinburg with Ryan's family for the weekend. As you can tell from the pictures, Kate had a blast with Ava! A big thank you goes out to Ryan's entire family for inviting us for the weekend and for all the new goodies they bought Kate! THANK YOU!!!

We will keep you posted on our status! Have a good week :)
