After a long day in the rain at the UK game, a movie at the theater Jake (Kate's at a sleepover with Eve), and now some CFB and a fire, I am tired and a little lost for words. I have been feeling very nostalgic lately but at this moment in time, with the fire in my view and the LSU/Bama game in the background, I can really only think of my upcoming R&R the next few days! Things with work have been very hectic lately, which left me to realize that I had not taken enough of my vacation days. Therefore, I decided to take off Mon and Tues to spend some time with Kate as they are off for a record's day on Mon and Election Day on Tues. After my parent-teacher conference on Monday morning, Kate and I are planning to head to Lexington to visit my mom at her school and then spend the night at the lake. Tuesday will be filled with a wait at the polls and some errand running, after of course a home cooked breakfast by Kate and Pee Paw.
We are getting in the holiday spirit here! Our house looked great with all the Halloween decor outside. Most of that will go back into storage this weekend and then it will be time for the Fall/Thanksgiving decor. It is hard to believe that in less than a month, we will have our Christmas tree up...yay!!!

Trick or Treating - we divided the festivities up into 2 separate nights. On Sunday night we enjoyed Halloween Party held by Jake's school. This was our 1st attempt at getting Jake into his costume and considering he cried for the 1st 20 minutes he had his costume on, I will say it didn't go that well. As his teachers have always said, he is VERY hesitant to do anything out of his normal routine, until he at least sees someone else do it. So once his friends Ian, Etta, and Addie all showed up in their costumes, he was cool with his skeleton pj's. High maintenance. Kate, on the other hand, was a piece of cake. She dressed up like a bunny and looked super cute.
On Wednesday night we enjoyed our neighborhood Halloween party. It was much smaller than in year's past due to the frigid weather but fun nonetheless. Kate's costume was modified because tights and a leotard were not enough to keep her warm. Therefore, she was a make-shift bunny on Halloween night. Jake sported his skeleton pj's again, this time with zero crying, and added his monster tobogan to it! Kate hung with the older girls for the entire evening, only stopping once to drop off some candy. Jake hung back with the parents and made his way to 25+ houses, saying "trick or treat" at each one, immediately followed with, "more treats please". I think it is safe to say next year will be awesome!
We also continue to support the CATS even though there is so little to support. The football team is 1-8 in the 1st year that we have season tickets. Oh well, at least Ryan and I have enjoyed the 2+ hours with each other. Today we were blown out by Vandy and sat through a bit of rain and a lot of coldness. There's always next year...
And last but not least, here is a picture of Brooks. His arthritis has been bothering him a lot more lately and Ryan took him to the doctor this past Friday and he received a wonderful report. Other than the arthritis, Brooks is as healthy as a horse. We started him on some new medicine, which is already working. He is moving around easier and we will just need to watch and make sure the meds are not too hard on his kidneys/liver. This pictures is from my desk chair...he often keeps me company of my office days.
