Kate's 1st haircut

Well, we finally did it! Kate got her 1st haircut and believe it or not, it went better than expected. Kate has never liked her hair brushed or allowed me to put a bow in her hair so I figured she would have a total meltdown in the chair. She did cry but it wasn't until the very end! She was a little trooper and the end result is just precious. There wasn't much hair to cut but Amy, her new hairdresser, was able to even up the back to give her a bob! Hopefully now it will grow out a little more even! Afterwards, Kate was able to slide down the slide and enjoyed a yellow lollipop! We also went to Babies-R-Us and got her a few new puzzles!!! Here are a few pictures. You can see in the pictures that she is starting to become quite the ham! She LOVES to wear her sunglasses (except they are usually upside down) and usually ends up putting them on top of her head like her Mommy!!!

Hope you all have a good week!

Happy 60th Birthday Mom!!!

Happy 60th Birthday Mom!!! What a week...my dad and mom both had birthday's this week, which is a great reason to get together and celebrate! On Friday, Ryan, Kate and I drove to Lexington to help celebrate my mom's 60th birthday with 50 of her closest friends and family members! Kate had a BIG time celebrating all the festivities with everyone, especially with her two cousins, Sawyer and Cameron. The balloons were a huge hit with all 3 of them! I think Kate is still dreaming of red, green and purple balloons!

Here are a few pictures of the night! Hope you enjoy...

Not only were we busy celebrating my mom's birthday on Friday but Kate also got to see John Riley on Saturday for a little play and pizza! The two of them kept busy in Kate's kitchen as well as colored and stamped most available pieces of paper in the house! Kate is not that great at sharing right now but thankfully John Riley was extremely patient with her and gave up most of his toys to make her happy!!! Thank you John for coming over and playing!!!

Kate's 1st snow

A little snow goes a long way with an 18 month old! This morning we joyfully woke up to an inch of snow and Kate realized just how fun a little snow can be! She loved stomping her feet and watching Daddy throw snowballs across the yard! It's just a shame that it wasn't a Saturday or Sunday because she cried as soon as she had to get in the car for school. Maybe some more will come our way!

Hope you enjoy the pictures!

Happy 60th Dad!

For those of you enjoying the blog...don't get use to the daily posts :) The weather was pretty cold here this weekend (7 degrees right now) so we did not venture out much, which left a lot of time to play with the blog! I know there will be little time during the week to post so most of it will be left to the weekend. I find it to be a very good escape from fun things like laundry and expense reporting!

We did head our for a little while today and drove to Lexington to enjoy a nice visit with my Dad for his 60th birthday. Ryan, Kate and I drove down and we were able to visit with him for a few hours while he was at the Thoroughbred Club. Kate enjoyed all the fun snacks, watching the horses run on TV, and running in between all the people as they were placing their bets! We missed my brother and his family but still had a good afternoon! Below are some pictures from the day! Happy Birthday DAD!!!

Easier than I thought!

It actually seems that blogging is easier than I anticipated. I am a little more comfortable with importing the pictures to the blog so hopefully I will be able to keep it up. It was freezing here today so we did not end up venturing out to get a haircut. Maybe next weekend!

I hope everyone has a good week and I hope to hear from you soon! Posted by Picasa

Rough start but hopefully the picture links are working now!!!

Things started a little rough with this blog since the links I had to Kodak Gallery were only working on a few computers. I THINK it may only work if you have an account with Kodak Gallery and are automatically signed in. If that is the case, I am attaching one last link from Kodak that I am not able to convert over to my new software Picasa of Kate's first 18 months. If you are unable to view it, I apologize and will use Picasa from here on out if that works well. Please let me know if you still cannot get the pictures to come up with Picasa. I have a feeling I will probably post a few times this weekend considering it is going to be a high of 22 on Saturday! We may even attempt our first haircut?!?!

If you have Kodak Gallery...try this link. If not...stay tuned for pictures from Picasa if it works.

Well, I finally did it!!!

Hello everyone! I hope this posting finds you all doing well. I have finally decided to enter the world of blogging! Over the past 2 years, I have had the pleasure of tracking the progress of my dear friends Heather and Janet through their blogs and have enjoyed it tremendously! Therefore, I have decided to start the year off right by creating a blog for you to keep updated on the busy yet overwhelmingly fun life of The Mardis Family. I am sure many of you love the monthly pictures yet many of you are very tired of receiving so many pictures of Kate! Therefore, with this blog, you can check-in and get an update on our lives as you please. My goal is to keep this updated with postings and pictures as often as possible. I apologize in advance if I am not successful at it but I am going to try! I also apologize for any grammer mistakes....grammer has never been my specialty and I am sure Ryan is not going to want to edit each posting before I send it out.

As for life right now, everything is going extremely well. The attached pictures are from Christmas. You can see in most of the pictures that Kate roughed up her nose right in time for all of the holiday pictures. She is growing faster than I ever even imagined. She is talking up a storm now...most of the time well enough for us to understand what she is saying! She is even starting to put 2-3 words together! Puzzles, dolls, and Lego's seem to be her favorite toys at this moment but I am sure that will change soon.

Take care and I look forward to keeping in touch with everyone through the blog.

Much love,
Whitney

UK Music City Bowl

Still testing this blogging thing as you can tell. Here are some pictures of Ryan and myself from the UK vs. Florida State game at the Music City Bowl in Nashville, TN. What a wonderful get away it was...enjoying a great visit with our dear friends Jessica, Bob and Breagle, and celebrating the big win with my Mom! Hope you enjoy the pictures!
