You know what happens when your personal computer goes out??? You completely lose track of blogging and you log a bunch (over 400 in fact) of pictures on your phone that you can't download to Picasa. Then, you spend one Saturday night trying to update the pictures and become a bit overwhelmed so you decide to finish up on Sunday. It is a good thing that the weekend one decides to do this, she is stuck at home anyway battling a full blown sinus infection that came to fruition after a 2-week battle of "oh, it is just allergies". Yep...I am down and out. I have done very little, as directed by the doctor, my husband, and my mom. The ultimate accomplishment has been achieved...it is 2:00 on Sunday afternoon and I am still in my PJ's. I do listen every once in a while.
Other than the little virus that has struck us all over the past 3 weeks, we have been great since the last post. We have successfully settled into 1st grade (we LOVE Ms Brown) and into Pooh's Corner, hosted out of town guests and played a lot with in-town friends and out-of-town cousins, gone camping to see others, attended a UK football game or 2, played a lot of soccer, and visited to cardiologist to make sure all is good with a few holes in Jake's heart. As you can see, we have been anything but calm, which I'm sure contributed to the recent illnesses. Oh well, you take the good with the bad. We had a tremendous September and a great start to October so far.
As for Jake's heart, he still has multiple holes open so we will continue to follow up yearly with the Cardiologist. Since they didn't close by 2, they will most likely stay open but will likely have little affect on him :) Good news.

A few crazy hair days - one was at a festival and one was for charity at school
1st grade pictures - the before and the actual. As you can see, pictures were taken a little too late in the day but I am so glad they turned out as they did. We successfully captured 4 missing front teeth, the self-cut bangs, and her often times unruly hair. This is one we will cherish forever and I have a feeling it may show up on her highschool graduation or wedding/reception pictures slideshow.
A play date or 20 with Cassie and Grace. Grace and Kate had fun with mom's old makeup. The 2nd picture captures the added protection Jake will have for the rest of his life. They love him and it makes his mama happy!
We watched daddy and some of his coworkers pull one of the UPS cargo planes. It was in support of the Special Olympics and the successfully pulled it in 8.04 seconds. I believe the came in 2nd in their division. One of the 1000 benefits of being associated with UPS.
We have cheered on the CATS at a few football games, despite it being their worst season ever. Luckily is it really just about the tailgating, which has been fun with our friends and family. Several weeks ago, I watched the girls at Judd and Jen's house, which allowed Ryan to take Jake to his 1st game. He ate himself through 2 1/2 quarters with peanut M&M's, cracker jacks, and peanuts. Obviously daddy was in charge.
Kate's name was selected in the class drawing to keep Blaster for the long weekend over Columbus Day. You would have thought she won the lottery as I don't think I have ever seen her as excited about anything in her entire life. Ms Brown immediately emailed me that she was selected and said the look in her eye was priceless. We are proud of the tremendous care she took of Blaster, however, Ryan and I did confirm through this care process that we will never own a guinea pig. Sorry kids, one day when your kid brings one home...you will understand.
We treated ourselves to a pedicure in honor of getting 100% on every spelling test so far and for an outstanding 1st quarter report card. I will let you guess which row of colors was Kate's. Yep, one for each toe.
We played a lot of soccer. It has definitely been a learning process for her and for Ryan (the assistant coach). Our team isn't the best but they have had fun and the games/practice definitely wear her out. She seems to be getting a little better each week but we are pretty sure soccer might not be her sport. At least we got to play with our neighbor Ellie. Once it is completed, we are going to try gymnastics again.
We enjoyed our favorite day of the year with Sue Sue - Saint James Art Festival on the 1st Friday in October. For the 3rd year running, we had picture perfect weather. Kate got to bring along Eve, which allowed her to enjoy it a little more. We loved window shopping all the booths, buying a few surprise Christmas gifts, and of course, enjoying the delicious vendor food. We can't wait to do it again next year mom!!! The first picture is from our morning outing to get coffee and chocolate milk. Having the day off with my daughter is such joy.
We've had a few Saturday mornings in stripped pj's.
Lastly, we have come to the point that eating out is fun again.
