Happy 6th Birthday Kate

As we crawled into bed late last night after 9 hours straight of swimming, sunning, and partying, Kate said it best when she said, "today may have been the best day ever!"  When we were growing up my mom used to declare that the week of our birthday's were "birthday week".  This past week has definitely been Kate's birthday week.  We started the birthday festivities with a low key 4th of July celebration at home with just the 4 of us.  We enjoyed a quite day in the pool followed by a bike ride to the golf course to enjoy a low-key fireworks show at a few traditional festival-type of activities like the bubble truck, a bouncey, and of course, face painting.  To ring in Kate's 6th birthday we gave her our gift a day early in hopes that she could ride her new bike to the fireworks.  Our planned didn't exactly go as scheduled as the bike was a little too big.  Oh well, there is always 7 for a new bike.

On the 5th we enjoyed dinner and a trip to DQ with my mom and Bob.  The highlight of this visit went well beyond the ice cream as Kate got to enjoy the mile trip up the hill back to our house in the back of Bob's truck.  Big time.

On Saturday we hosted several of our friends for a swim party and dessert bar.  Despite the 105 degree heat (110 heat index) we made it through the day with zero meltdowns!!  I had such a blast stopping and observing the chaos that ensues with 10 kids, 105 degree heat, a pool, and of course, lots of sugar :)

Here are some pictures from this week.  Happy Birthday Kate!
