Derby 2012 - the week leading up to Derby is an incredible time to live in Louisville. Kate had an event every day at school that included a Kindergarten Parade! You can see her hat and float below! She was adament on using her bike as her float, which turned out pretty cute. In addition to enjoying the school events, we visited the Chow Wagon's on the waterfront one evening. The kids enjoyed the extra play time mid-week and we enjoyed some carnival food and a cold beer! Happy Derby!
Guitar - guitar lessons are going great! Kate still seems to be enjoying the 30 minute lesson each Friday and Mr. Kevin provides us with a positive report after each session. I am proud of her for sticking with it despite the extra time it takes out of her schedule each night to practice. She seems to have a bit of musical and creative talent so I hope we can continue to develop it through this outlet. Plus she looks super cute holding her guitar.
Pool's Open - we opened the pool a little early this year due to the extra warm weather we had in March. The cooler April weather prevented us from getting in as much as we hoped but we have truly enjoyed being outside and getting some water therapy just by sticking our toes in. This past weekend it was 90+ degrees for 3 straight days so immediately upon our return from the lake, we got an hour or so in! Ahhh...
Camping Trip - several weekends ago we ventured out for the Ryan and Kate's 2nd camping trip and mine and Jake's 1st camping trip of the season. Kate is an old pro by now and Jake did great except during the heaving rainfall overnight. He ran on all cylinders trying to keep up with the big kids and finally crashed about 8:00. He went right down in the pack n' play on one side of the tent and slept well until ~12:30 a.m. when the heavy rain woke him up. He finally went back to sleep around 5:00 a.m., which made for a long night for us but it was all worth it in the end. It was a wonderful way to spend Mother's Day with my family. A big thank you goes out to Judd, Jenn and the girl for inviting us to join several other families for the weekend!
